a girl and her books

"You see, books fill the empty spaces. If I'm waiting for a bus, or am eating alone, I can always rely on a book to keep me company. Sometimes I think I like them more than people. People will let you down in life. They'll disappoint you and hurt you and betray you. But not books. They're better than life."
The Magician’s Nephew; The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; The Horse and his Boy by C.S. Lewis
Shortly after Christmas I returned home to be with my ailing Oma, and I decided it would be a appropriate time to re-read the Narnia Series.  Not too heavy, not too light, perfect for reading at a bedside - aloud or quietly. As these things go, she passed away much quicker than any of us had anticipated - and so I only read the first three before it was back to real life. C.S. Lewis has an exceptionally conversational way of writing.
